Instead he grows through a process called molting, meaning he grows inside of his exoskeleton until it’s so tight that he sheds it and emerges larger than before. As Lucius has gotten older he doesn’t need to molt as often, which he’s happy with, because it’s a lot of work to grow when you’re a lobster!
